Business Immigration - Entrepreneurs

 

Experienced business persons who are able to own and manage a business in Canada can apply for permanent residence in Canada under the Entrepreneur category. To be qualified as an entrepreneur you must:
  • Have at least two years of business experience (i.e. you have managed a qualifying business for at least two years).
  • Have a net worth of at least C$300,000, alone or with your accompanying spouse, lawfully obtained.
  • Obtain a minimum of 35 points in the business immigration selection point system.
  • Meet medical, security and other requirements.
Permanent residency of entrepreneurs is conditional and they must comply with following conditions after arriving in Canada:
  • Must own at least 33 percent of the equity of a qualifying Canadian business;
  • Must provide active and on-going management of the qualifying Canadian business;
  • Must create at least one full-time job in the qualifying Canadian business for Canadian citizens or permanent residents, other than the entrepreneur and their family members.

These conditions must be fulfilled by entrepreneur for a period of at least one year within the period of three years after the day on which the entrepreneur becomes a permanent resident.
