Visitor Visa

More than 5 million visitors come to Canada every year. Visitors must obtain a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) to enter Canada, unless they are citizens of visa-exempt countries (countries where their citizens do not require a visa to visit Canada).

Tourists and visitors
Those who want enter Canada as a tourist or as a visitor need to apply for a “Temporary Resident Visa” (except citizens of some countries). Applicants must hold a valid passport and may also need a letter of invitation form their Canadian host. Visa officers determine whether an applicant meets entry requirements and applicants must convince the officer that they will leave Canada at the end of their visit. So, ties and facts such as having a job and possession of a home and family will increase applicant’s chance of approval.
As it was mentioned applicant might also be asked to show a letter of invitation from someone in Canada. Information of inviter and invitee must be included in the invitation letter. Things such as complete name, date of birth, address and telephone number, the reason and duration of visit, inviter’s legal status in Canada, inviter’s job and income, inviters relationship to invitee, and the date that the visitor intend to leave Canada.
Visitor visas are not generally valid more than 6 months and may be extended on specific circumstances. Those who want extend their stay must file their request 30 days before their visa’s expiry date.
Being in a good health condition (applicants may need to take a medical examination) and having enough money for the period of temporary residency (the amount of money may vary depending on the duration of stay and the place where visitor will stay) are two other entry requirements.

Business Visitors
Business visitors enter Canada for international business deals and activities. For example, someone who comes to Canada to meet with representatives of a company is a business visitor. Visitors may be in Canada for business meetings or site visits (to observe only). A person invited to Canada by a Canadian company for training in product use, sales or other functions related to a business transaction would also be included.
Business visitors must prove that their main source of income and their main place of business are outside Canada.
There are no special visas for business visitors and they should apply for a temporary resident visa. Every temporary resident, except residents of exempted countries, must have a TRV to enter Canada.
